Wembley Park Medical Centre is a new state-of-the-art healthcare facility designed by The Manser Practice for developer Quintain to cater for population growth in and around their Wembley Park development, one of the largest regeneration sites in Europe.

The 1300 square metre NHS ‘super surgery’ serves up to 25,000 patients and provides two clinical suites with 14 consulting rooms, four treatment rooms, an e-consultation room, as well as supporting staff facilities and patient areas. These waiting areas are positioned next to full height windows, where considerable effort was spent coordinating ceiling services to maximise ceiling heights and the amount of natural light entering the building. This helps highlight TMP’s interior design, which uses a range of colours, signage and wall graphics to differentiate key areas of the building. Durable and low-maintenance materials such as natural ash and exposed concrete also add to the surgery’s character.

As well as complying with Building Regulations and HBN Healthcare Regulations (such as colour-contrasting surfaces and changes in texture for neurodivergent users), the design allows for all incoming phone calls to be answered in a separate office for greater confidentiality, while a soundproof room allows patients to have private conversations away from the reception area. Both are simple innovations that were the result of stakeholder engagement workshops held at key points throughout the process. These workshops also led to the addition of dedicated areas for pushchairs and wheelchairs, as well as a variety of check-in screens and furniture to accommodate different users

The Manser Practice worked as architect, lead consultant and interior designers on the project, seeing it through from initial concept sketches to construction and final handover. The internal fit-out was completed in just 6 months, and provides a modern, state of the art GP surgery in the heart of Quintain’s Wembley Park development.
